THE GENERAL RULE OF THUMB

  • Losing 1 pound of body fat required 3,500 kcal.
  • Desired Weight Loss (lbs) x 3,500 kcal/lbs) ÷ number of weeks.
  • Then calculate Weekly Caloric Deficit (kcal/week) by dividing 7.
